Your monthly and annual salary tax on the current slabs — the Finance Act 2026 table for Tax Year 2026-27, in force since 1 July 2026. Many calculators still show last year's rates; this one defaults to the new table and keeps 2025-26 as a selector.
In short: For tax year 2026-27, salary up to Rs 600,000 a year is tax-free in Pakistan. The Finance Act 2026 then charges 1% up to Rs 1.2 million, 11% to Rs 2.2 million, 20% to Rs 3.2 million, 25% to Rs 4.1 million, 29% to Rs 5.6 million, 32% to Rs 7 million and 35% above that — and the old surcharge on high salaries has been abolished for salaried persons.

Salary tax is worked out on your annual taxable salary using the salaried-class slabs (salary is more than 75% of taxable income), then divided by 12 — that is the amount your employer withholds each month under section 149.
Tax Year 2026-27 (Finance Act 2026): 0% to Rs 600,000 · 1% to Rs 1,200,000 · Rs 6,000 + 11% to Rs 2,200,000 · Rs 116,000 + 20% to Rs 3,200,000 · Rs 316,000 + 25% to Rs 4,100,000 · Rs 541,000 + 29% to Rs 5,600,000 · Rs 976,000 + 32% to Rs 7,000,000 · Rs 1,424,000 + 35% above. The section 4AB surcharge no longer applies to salaried persons.
Tax Year 2025-26 (Finance Act 2025): same first bands, then Rs 116,000 + 23% to Rs 3,200,000 · Rs 346,000 + 30% to Rs 4,100,000 · Rs 616,000 + 35% above — plus a 9% surcharge on the tax where income exceeds Rs 10 million.
Worked example: Rs 250,000/month = Rs 3,000,000/year. TY 2026-27 tax = Rs 116,000 + 20% × Rs 800,000 = Rs 276,000 per year = Rs 23,000 per month. (On the old 2025-26 table it would be Rs 300,000 — the new middle-band rates are lower.)
See the table in "How it is calculated" above — the headline changes from last year are the 20% and 25% middle bands and two new bands at 29% and 32% before the 35% top rate.
No — for salaried persons it was abolished from TY 2026-27. In TY 2025-26 it was 9% of the tax above Rs 10 million of income (not 10%: that was TY 2025, and remains the non-salaried rate).
Rs 1,200,000 a year → Rs 6,000 a year → about Rs 500 a month in TY 2026-27.
2026-27 is current (in force since 1 July 2026) and is the default. Pick 2025-26 only for last year's salary.
No — these are the salaried-class slabs (salary > 75% of taxable income). Non-salaried income uses a different table.
