Hairdresser Time Card Calculator — Timesheet for five 8-hour days, Tuesday to Saturday

A weekly time card pre-set the way hairdressers actually work: five 8-hour days, Tuesday to Saturday. Adjust the shifts to your own week — overtime split and gross pay follow instantly.

In short: This card starts from a typical hairdresser week — Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid break (8 paid hours) — at $18/hour. That week totals 40:00 hours and $720.00 gross under the federal weekly rule. Change any shift, break or the rate and the whole week recalculates.

How It Works — Overtime for Hairdressers

The card turns each shift into paid minutes (clock-out minus clock-in, minus unpaid breaks; overnight shifts roll into the next day), then splits the week: the first 40 paid hours are regular, the rest are overtime at 1.5×. Rules summarized from the US Department of Labor (FLSA). Last verified: November 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

I rent a booth. Am I an employee for overtime?

A true booth renter is an independent business — you set your prices and hours, pay rent, and keep your book — and overtime law does not apply. But if the salon sets your schedule and prices, controls your clients and can discipline you, you may be a misclassified employee who is owed overtime.

How is overtime calculated when I earn commission?

Your regular rate is total compensation for the week (commission plus any hourly pay) divided by hours actually worked. Hours past 40 are owed an additional half of that rate per hour, on top of the commission already earned.

Can the salon deduct product or card fees from my pay?

Deductions for the employer’s business costs cannot pull your pay below the minimum wage for the week, and some states restrict them further. A fee that does so is an unlawful kickback under federal law.

How do I check a paycheck?

Track your real in/out times for a week, add up all pay for that week, rebuild the week here using your implied regular rate, and compare the overtime line with the stub.

Does this card save my week?

Yes — automatically, in your browser’s local storage on this device only. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account. Archive a finished week and it stays viewable on the same device (up to 12 archived weeks).

How it works — the formula

The formula: Gross = (regular hours × rate) + (overtime hours × rate × 1.5), where overtime hours are the paid hours beyond 40 in the workweek.

Worked example

The pre-loaded week — Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid break (8 paid hours) — is Tuesday 8 h, Wednesday 8 h, Thursday 8 h, Friday 8 h, Saturday 8 h: 40:00 paid hours. At the pre-set rate that is 40:00 regular ($720.00) with no overtime = $720.00 gross before taxes.

Disclaimer: Estimates only — not payroll or legal advice. Your employer's payroll rules and state law control your actual pay. Figures are rounded for display; your pay stub and payroll department are the official record.
