Housekeeper Time Card Calculator — Timesheet for five 7-hour days plus a Saturday shift

A weekly time card pre-set the way housekeepers actually work: five 7-hour days plus a Saturday shift. Adjust the shifts to your own week — overtime split and gross pay follow instantly.

In short: This card starts from a typical housekeeper week — Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid break (7 paid hours), plus Saturday 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM with no unpaid break (5 paid hours) — at $16/hour. That week totals 40:00 hours and $640.00 gross under the federal weekly rule. Change any shift, break or the rate and the whole week recalculates.

How It Works — Overtime for Housekeepers

The card turns each shift into paid minutes (clock-out minus clock-in, minus unpaid breaks; overnight shifts roll into the next day), then splits the week: the first 40 paid hours are regular, the rest are overtime at 1.5×. Rules summarized from the US Department of Labor (FLSA). Last verified: November 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am paid per room. Am I still owed overtime?

If you are an employee, yes: your regular rate is the week’s total room pay divided by the hours you actually worked, and hours past 40 are owed an additional half of that rate each. Piece pay changes the arithmetic, not the right.

Are live-in housekeepers entitled to overtime?

Under federal law, live-in domestic service employees are exempt from overtime (but not from minimum wage), and household-employed companions can be exempt too. Agency-employed housekeepers are fully covered, and several states extend overtime protection to domestic workers — check your state.

Does driving between clients’ homes count as work?

Yes, when you travel between work sites during the day for the same employer. The unpaid parts are only the commute from your home to the first client and from the last client home.

How do I check a paycheck?

Track your real start/finish times per home for a week, rebuild the week here (using total pay ÷ hours as the rate if you are paid per room), and compare with the stub.

Does this card save my week?

Yes — automatically, in your browser’s local storage on this device only. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account. Archive a finished week and it stays viewable on the same device (up to 12 archived weeks).

How it works — the formula

The formula: Gross = (regular hours × rate) + (overtime hours × rate × 1.5), where overtime hours are the paid hours beyond 40 in the workweek.

Worked example

The pre-loaded week — Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid break (7 paid hours), plus Saturday 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM with no unpaid break (5 paid hours) — is Monday 7 h, Tuesday 7 h, Wednesday 7 h, Thursday 7 h, Friday 7 h, Saturday 5 h: 40:00 paid hours. At the pre-set rate that is 40:00 regular ($640.00) with no overtime = $640.00 gross before taxes.

Disclaimer: Estimates only — not payroll or legal advice. Your employer's payroll rules and state law control your actual pay. Figures are rounded for display; your pay stub and payroll department are the official record.
