Welder Time Card Calculator — Timesheet for four 10-hour shifts plus a Friday morning

A weekly time card pre-set the way welders actually work: four 10-hour shifts plus a Friday morning. Adjust the shifts to your own week — overtime split and gross pay follow instantly.

In short: This card starts from a typical welder week — Monday to Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid break (10 paid hours), plus Friday 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid break (5.5 paid hours) — at $24/hour. That week totals 45:30 hours and $1,158.00 gross under the federal weekly rule. Change any shift, break or the rate and the whole week recalculates.

How It Works — Overtime for Welders

The card turns each shift into paid minutes (clock-out minus clock-in, minus unpaid breaks; overnight shifts roll into the next day), then splits the week: the first 40 paid hours are regular, the rest are overtime at 1.5×. Rules summarized from the US Department of Labor (FLSA). Last verified: November 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am paid per diem on travel jobs. Does it change my overtime rate?

A genuine per diem that reasonably approximates travel expenses is not wages and stays out of the regular rate. Flat payments labeled per diem that do not track actual expenses can be treated as pay — and then they do raise the rate. When in doubt, rebuild the week both ways and compare.

Does time in required PPE and safety checks count?

Yes — donning required protective gear at the site, attending mandatory safety briefings and performing required equipment checks are integral to the work and are hours worked.

Can the shop require a 60-hour production week?

Generally yes for adult employees, provided every hour past 40 is paid at 1.5× the regular rate. The employer cannot average a 60-hour week against a short week to avoid the premium.

How do I check a paycheck with a shift differential?

Add the differential to your base rate first — the overtime rate is 1.5× the combined figure — then rebuild the week here and compare the overtime line with the stub.

Does this card save my week?

Yes — automatically, in your browser’s local storage on this device only. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account. Archive a finished week and it stays viewable on the same device (up to 12 archived weeks).

How it works — the formula

The formula: Gross = (regular hours × rate) + (overtime hours × rate × 1.5), where overtime hours are the paid hours beyond 40 in the workweek.

Worked example

The pre-loaded week — Monday to Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid break (10 paid hours), plus Friday 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid break (5.5 paid hours) — is Monday 10 h, Tuesday 10 h, Wednesday 10 h, Thursday 10 h, Friday 5.5 h: 45:30 paid hours. At the pre-set rate that is 40:00 regular ($960.00) + 5:30 overtime ($198.00) = $1,158.00 gross before taxes.

Disclaimer: Estimates only — not payroll or legal advice. Your employer's payroll rules and state law control your actual pay. Figures are rounded for display; your pay stub and payroll department are the official record.
