Your complete exit package in one calculation: Article 51 gratuity, pay for unused annual leave, and notice-period compensation — itemised, so you can check every line against your HR statement.
In short: a UAE final settlement is your gratuity (21 days of basic wage per year for the first five years, 30 days after) plus unused-leave pay on the basic wage, plus notice-period pay on the full wage if notice was not served. Everything is due within 14 days of your contract ending.
| Length of service | — |
| End-of-service gratuity (Article 51) | — |
| Unused-leave pay (on basic wage) | — |
| Notice-period pay (on full wage) | — |
Worked example: basic AED 10,000, total wage AED 15,000, 7 years of service, 10 unused leave days, 30 notice days owed → gratuity AED 55,000 + leave pay AED 3,333.33 + notice pay AED 15,000 = AED 73,333.33.
Your final salary up to the last working day, and any agreed extras (repatriation ticket, end-of-service savings scheme payouts), come on top of the three lines above. DIFC and ADGM have their own schemes.
Typically gratuity under Article 51, pay for earned but untaken annual leave, and notice-period compensation if notice was not served — plus your salary up to the last working day.
Standard practice pays it on the basic wage: (monthly basic ÷ 30) × unused days. The basis is contract-dependent, so check your contract or HR statement.
Notice is 30–90 days under Article 43. If your employer ends the contract without notice being served, you are owed the wage for that period, normally on the full wage.
Within 14 days of the contract ending (Article 53).
No — since February 2022 resignation does not reduce gratuity, and leave already earned is still payable.
