Unzip File Extractor - Open and Extract ZIP Files
Someone sent you a ZIP and you only need one file out of it - or you want to peek inside before trusting it. Upload-based extractors make your archive travel to a stranger's server first. This one reads the ZIP on your own device: look at the contents, pull out exactly what you need, done.
Extract All downloads the files one after another. If your browser asks whether to allow multiple downloads from this site, choose Allow - otherwise extract files one by one with their Extract buttons. Extracted files are saved under their plain file name (folders are shown in the list so you can see the archive's structure, but browsers save downloads flat).
How to use the Unzip File Extractor
- Drop your .zip file onto the box above, or click it and pick the archive from your device.
- Read the listing: every entry appears with its full path inside the archive and its real (uncompressed) size. Folder entries are marked "folder".
- Click Extract next to any single file to download just that one, or use Extract All Files to download everything one file after another.
How it works
Every ZIP ends with a central directory that lists each entry, where its data sits in the file and how big it is compressed and uncompressed. This page uses the JSZip library in your browser to read that directory the moment you pick an archive - which is why the listing appears instantly, before anything is extracted. When you extract a file, JSZip inflates (un-DEFLATEs) its data in memory and your browser saves it as a normal download. Because all of this happens locally, the same page works offline once loaded and is safe for archives you would never send to an upload site.
Worked example
You open backup.zip (4.8 MB). The listing shows a photos folder containing photos/img1.jpg (1.9 MB) and photos/img2.jpg (2.1 MB), plus a readme.txt (1 KB) at the top level. You only need the readme - click its Extract button and just that 1 KB file downloads, without unpacking the photos at all.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this unzip tool free?
Yes - free, no sign-up, no limits and no watermarks.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The archive is read by JavaScript (JSZip) inside your browser and the extracted files go straight to your downloads. The ZIP and its contents never leave your device.
Can it open a password-protected ZIP?
No. JSZip cannot read encrypted archives, so a password-protected ZIP will fail to open here. Use a desktop archive tool for encrypted files.
Why did Extract All stop after a few files?
Browsers guard against pages downloading many files at once. This tool downloads the files one after another with a short pause; if your browser asks, allow multiple downloads for this site - or extract the files one by one, which always works.
Does it work for RAR, 7z or TAR files?
No - this extractor handles standard .zip archives only. RAR and 7z use different compression formats that need different libraries.
