ZIP File Creator - Make a ZIP from Multiple Files

In short: the ZIP File Creator bundles any set of files into a single standard .zip archive, built entirely in your browser with JSZip - add files, optionally group them in a folder, pick a compression level and download.

Sending ten attachments one by one, handing over a project folder, or archiving a batch of photos - a ZIP turns a pile of files into one tidy download. Most online zippers upload your files to a server first. This one does not: the archive is assembled on your own device, so even private files never travel anywhere.

Drop files here or click to choose files from your device

Compression note: text, code and CSV files shrink a lot with DEFLATE. Photos, videos and PDFs are already compressed, so the ZIP will be about the same size either way - choose Stored for those to finish instantly.

Private by design: everything in this tool happens 100% in your browser with JavaScript. Your files are never uploaded to a server, never stored and never seen by us - close the tab and everything is gone. One honest limit: the ZIP is built in your device's memory, so very large file sets (hundreds of megabytes) can be slow or fail on a low-memory phone.

How to use the ZIP File Creator

  1. Drop your files onto the box above, or click it and pick files from your device. You can add files in several rounds.
  2. Check the list - remove anything you added by mistake, and watch the total size.
  3. Optionally type a folder name if you want every file to sit inside one folder in the archive, and give the ZIP a name.
  4. Pick a compression level (Compressed is right for most jobs) and click Create ZIP & Download.

How it works

A ZIP archive stores each file's data plus a central directory at the end that lists every entry, its name and its sizes - that is why any unzip tool on any system can open it. This page uses the JSZip library in your browser: it reads the files you picked into memory, optionally compresses each one with the DEFLATE algorithm (the same one classic ZIP tools use), writes the directory, and hands the finished archive back to you as a single download. Files with the same name are kept and numbered automatically - the second report.pdf becomes report (1).pdf - so nothing is silently overwritten.

Worked example

You add three files: report.pdf (240 KB), photo.jpg (1.2 MB) and notes.txt (2 KB), with the folder name set to "handover". The tool produces handover.zip - or whatever name you chose - containing a handover folder with all three files inside. The download is roughly 1.4 MB, because the PDF and JPG were already compressed; had the files been plain text and CSV exports, the same archive could easily be a third of the original size.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this ZIP file creator free?

Yes - free, no sign-up, no limits and no watermarks.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The ZIP is built by JavaScript (JSZip) running in your browser. Your files never leave your device, which also makes this safe for private documents.

Why is my ZIP almost the same size as the original files?

Formats like JPG, PNG, MP4, MP3 and PDF are already compressed, so ZIP compression cannot shrink them much further. Text-based files - TXT, CSV, HTML, JSON, source code and logs - usually shrink a lot.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no limit built into the tool, but the archive is assembled in your browser's memory. A few hundred megabytes is fine on most desktops; very large sets can be slow or run out of memory on a low-end phone. If it struggles, split the files into smaller ZIPs.

Can I password-protect the ZIP or add files to an existing one?

Not with this tool. It creates a fresh, standard ZIP with no encryption. Anyone who gets the file can open it, so do not rely on a ZIP alone to protect secrets.
