End-of-service indemnity for monthly-paid employees under Articles 51–53 of the Kuwait Labour Law (Law No. 6 of 2010), including the resignation scale and the 18-month cap — with the calculation method stated openly, because Kuwait practice is not uniform.
In short: Kuwait indemnity is 15 days' wage per year for the first five years (daily wage = monthly wage ÷ 26) and one full month's wage per year after that, capped at 18 months' wage. If you resign on an indefinite contract, you receive nothing under 3 years, half at 3–5 years, two thirds at 5–10 years, and the full amount at 10+ years.
| Length of service | — |
| First 5 years — 15 days per year (÷ 26) | — |
| After 5 years — 1 month per year | — |
| Full indemnity before resignation scale | — |
| Resignation share applied | — |
| Statutory cap (18 months' wage) | — |
Worked example: wage KWD 1,000, 7 years, employer-ended → first 5 years: 5 × 15 × (1,000 ÷ 26) = KWD 2,884.62; next 2 years: 2 × 1,000 = KWD 2,000; total KWD 4,884.62. The same service resigned at 7 years pays two thirds: KWD 3,256.41.
15 days' wage per year for the first five years (daily wage = monthly ÷ 26), one month's wage per year after, capped at 18 months' wage.
On an indefinite contract (Article 53): nothing under 3 years, half at 3–5 years, two thirds at 5–10 years, full at 10+ years. Fixed-term expiry pays in full.
This calculator uses the last full wage (Article 55). The basic-vs-full question is not settled by a published ruling — the method is disclosed above so you can judge your employer's figure.
They compute the post-year-5 part as 30 × (wage ÷ 26) instead of one monthly wage per year — about 15% more for those years. Both readings exist in practice.
