How It Works — The Rule Behind This Time Card

Most Oregon employers owe overtime only after 40 hours a week — but mills, factories and manufacturers also owe daily overtime after 10 hours in a day. The card first turns each shift into paid minutes (clock-out minus clock-in, minus unpaid breaks, with overnight shifts rolled into the next day), optionally rounds punches the way payroll does, and then splits the week under Oregon's rule:

Oregon minimum wage (2026): $15.55/hour. Standard statewide rate. The Portland metro rate is $16.80 and the non-urban county rate is $14.55; rates adjust every July 1. Frequently Asked Questions

Does this time card apply Oregon's overtime rule?

Yes. Unlike the generic flagship card, this page splits your week under Oregon's rule: weekly overtime, plus daily rules in manufacturing. Premium hours are never double-counted.

What is the minimum wage in Oregon in 2026?

The 2026 Oregon minimum wage is $15.55 per hour for most workers. Standard statewide rate. The Portland metro rate is $16.80 and the non-urban county rate is $14.55; rates adjust every July 1.

How much is a 48-hour week at the Oregon minimum wage?

Six 8-hour days at $15.55: 40.00 regular hours ($622.00) plus 8.00 overtime hours ($186.60) = $808.60 gross before taxes — the exact week pre-loaded in the card above.

Why does the Oregon rule mention manufacturing?

Oregon's daily overtime — 1.5× after 10 hours in a day — applies in mills, factories, manufacturing and a few specific sectors. Everyone else in Oregon is on the weekly 40-hour rule. In daily-overtime workplaces you are paid the greater of the daily or weekly calculation, never both on the same hour.

Does the card save my week?

Yes — automatically, in your browser's local storage on this device only. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account. Archive the week when a new one starts; the last 12 archived weeks stay viewable on the same device.

How it works — the formula

The formula: Paid minutes per day = (clock-out − clock-in) − unpaid break. Then: For most employers: score the week — first 40 hours regular, the rest overtime. For mills, factories and manufacturing: also split each day at 10 hours, and pay whichever of the daily or weekly result is greater. Gross = (regular × rate) + (overtime × rate × 1.5).

Worked example

Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid break — 8 paid hours a day, 48 for the week — at the Oregon minimum wage of $15.55/hour: the card totals 48:00 hours — 40:00 regular and 8:00 overtime, for a gross of $808.60 ($622.00 + $186.60). That is the week already loaded in the calculator above.

Frequently asked questions

Can daily and weekly overtime stack on the same hour?

No — that is called pyramiding, and it is not allowed. An hour paid at a daily premium is not counted again toward the 40-hour weekly threshold; you receive whichever treatment benefits you more for that hour, never both.

What changes if my break is paid?

Paid break minutes stay in your paid time instead of coming off the shift. That can move a day or a week across a threshold: a 9:00-to-6:30 shift with a paid 30-minute break holds 9.5 paid hours, not 9.

Disclaimer: Estimates only — not payroll or legal advice. Your employer's payroll rules and state law control your actual pay. Figures are rounded for display; your pay stub and payroll department are the official record.
