Working with invoices or prices that include tax? Add VAT, GST or sales tax to a net amount — or strip it out of a gross amount — at any rate, for any country.

How to use the VAT / GST Calculator

  1. Enter the amount.
  2. Enter the tax rate (%) — 18% is pre-filled; change it to your country's rate.
  3. Choose the mode: add tax to a net amount, or remove tax from a gross amount — then press Calculate.
Example: Adding 18% VAT to Rs 10,000: the tax is Rs 1,800 and the gross amount is Rs 11,800. Working backwards, a gross Rs 11,800 contains Rs 10,000 net plus Rs 1,800 tax.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between net and gross?

Net is the amount before tax; gross is the amount including tax. This calculator converts in both directions.

Which countries does it work for?

Any — VAT in Europe and the Gulf, GST in Pakistan, India, Canada and Australia, and sales tax in the US all use the same maths. Just enter your rate.

How is tax removed from a gross amount?

Net = gross ÷ (1 + rate ÷ 100). The tax is the difference — it is NOT simply the rate percent of the gross amount.

Loona Calculators › Health › BMR & TDEE Calculator

🔥 BMR & TDEE Calculator

How many calories does your body burn each day? Your BMR is what you burn at complete rest; your TDEE adds your daily activity. Both are the starting point for any weight plan.

How to use the BMR & TDEE Calculator

  1. Select your gender and enter your age, weight (kg) and height (cm).
  2. Choose the activity level that matches your normal week.
  3. Press Calculate — your BMR and TDEE appear below.
Example: A 30-year-old man weighing 70 kg at 175 cm has a BMR of about 1,649 kcal. With moderate activity (exercise 3-5 days a week), his TDEE is about 2,556 kcal per day.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between BMR and TDEE?

BMR is the energy your body needs at complete rest just to stay alive. TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) multiplies BMR by your activity level to estimate your real daily burn.

Which formula is used?

The Mifflin-St Jeor formula, considered the most accurate general estimate: for men 10×weight + 6.25×height − 5×age + 5; for women the same but − 161.

Is this a medical measurement?

No — it is a well-tested estimate. Individual metabolism varies; a doctor or dietitian can measure yours more precisely.

🍽️ Daily Calorie Calculator

Tell this calculator your details and your goal — lose, maintain or gain weight — and get a daily calorie target based on your real energy needs, with a built-in safety minimum.

How to use the Daily Calorie Calculator

  1. Select your gender and enter your age, weight (kg) and height (cm).
  2. Choose your activity level and your goal.
  3. Press Calculate — your daily calorie target appears below.
Example: A 30-year-old man, 70 kg, 175 cm, moderately active: maintenance is about 2,556 kcal per day, so the target to lose weight is about 2,056 kcal and to gain is about 3,056 kcal.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast will I lose weight on the target?

The target uses a 500 kcal daily deficit, which changes weight by roughly 0.5 kg per week — a steady, sustainable pace.

Why is there a minimum of 1,200 kcal?

Eating fewer than 1,200 kcal per day risks nutrient deficiencies and is not recommended without medical supervision, so this calculator never suggests less.

Should I follow this as a diet plan?

It is a starting target, not a personal plan. For medical conditions, pregnancy or a structured diet, please consult a doctor or dietitian.

A widely used guide: 35 ml per kilogram of body weight, plus about 350 ml for every 30 minutes of exercise.

Does tea or food count?

All fluids and water-rich foods contribute something, but plain water is the easiest way to meet most of your target.

Can I drink too much water?

Yes, extreme amounts are harmful. Follow the guide, drink more in hot weather or heavy work, and let thirst guide you too.

Does the round trip option double everything?

Yes — distance, fuel needed and cost are all doubled for the return journey.

Why might my real cost differ?

Traffic jams, air conditioning, heavy loads, hills and driving style all change consumption. Keep a small buffer on long trips.

Loona Calculators › Money & Finance › Profit Margin Calculator

💹 Profit Margin Calculator

Selling a product and want to know how much you really earn on each sale? Enter the cost price and the selling price to see your profit, your profit margin percentage and your markup percentage — the three numbers every seller should know.

How to use the Profit Margin Calculator

  1. Enter the cost price (what the product costs you).
  2. Enter the selling price (what the customer pays).
  3. Press Calculate — profit, margin and markup appear below.
Example: If a product costs you Rs 800 and you sell it for Rs 1,000, your profit is Rs 200, your margin is 20% and your markup is 25%.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between margin and markup?

Margin is profit as a percentage of the SELLING price; markup is profit as a percentage of the COST price. The same Rs 200 profit is a 20% margin but a 25% markup on an Rs 800 cost.

Can the margin be more than 100%?

No — margin can never exceed 100%, because profit is always part of the selling price. Markup, however, can go far beyond 100%.

What if the selling price is lower than the cost?

Then the result shows a loss — a negative profit and a negative margin — so you can see exactly how much you lose on each sale.

Loona Calculators › Money & Finance › Break-Even Calculator

🟰 Break-Even Calculator

How many units must you sell before your business stops losing money? Enter your fixed costs, the selling price per unit and the variable cost per unit to find your break-even point in units and in revenue.

How to use the Break-Even Calculator

  1. Enter your total fixed costs (rent, salaries, bills — costs that stay the same whether you sell or not).
  2. Enter the selling price of one unit and the variable cost of one unit (materials, packaging, delivery).
  3. Press Calculate — the units you must sell to break even appear below.
Example: With fixed costs of Rs 1,00,000, a selling price of Rs 500 and a variable cost of Rs 300 per unit, you must sell 500 units — Rs 2,50,000 of revenue — to break even.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the break-even point?

The sales level at which total revenue exactly covers total costs — no profit, no loss. Every unit sold beyond it adds profit.

Why must the price be above the variable cost?

Each sale first has to pay its own variable cost. If the price does not even cover that, every extra sale increases the loss and break-even is impossible.

Are the units rounded?

Yes — units are rounded UP to the next whole unit, because you cannot sell a fraction of a unit and rounding down would leave you just short of covering your costs.

How to use the SIP Calculator

  1. Enter your monthly investment amount.
  2. Enter the expected annual return (%) — a projection to plan with, never a promise.
  3. Enter the number of years, then press Calculate.
Example: Investing Rs 5,000 every month at an expected 12% per year for 10 years grows to Rs 11,61,695.38 — Rs 6,00,000 invested by you and Rs 5,61,695.38 of estimated gains.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is each monthly investment assumed to be made?

At the START of each month, with monthly compounding — the standard way SIP projections are calculated.

Is the return guaranteed?

No. Market returns are never guaranteed and never grow in a straight line. This is a projection to help you plan, not a promise by any fund or scheme.

What is the difference between a SIP and a lump sum?

A SIP spreads your money across many months, so you invest at many different prices; a lump sum invests everything at once. Our Investment Calculator covers a lump sum with monthly additions.

🏛️ Fixed Deposit Calculator

A fixed deposit locks your money for a set period at a rate fixed in advance. Enter the deposit, the rate, the tenure and how often interest compounds to see the exact maturity value.

How to use the Fixed Deposit Calculator

  1. Enter the deposit amount.
  2. Enter the annual interest rate (%) and the tenure (in months or years).
  3. Choose the compounding frequency, then press Calculate.
Example: A deposit of Rs 1,00,000 at 8% per year for 2 years, compounded quarterly, matures at Rs 1,17,165.94 — that is Rs 17,165.94 of interest.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does compounding frequency mean?

How often the bank adds the interest you have earned to your deposit, so it starts earning interest itself. Quarterly compounding is common for fixed deposits; monthly compounding grows slightly faster.

Is the FD interest guaranteed?

The rate is fixed when you open the deposit, unlike market investments. But early withdrawal usually earns a lower rate, and tax may apply to the interest.

How is this different from the Compound Interest Calculator?

That tool is general-purpose and shows a year-by-year table. This one is shaped exactly like a bank FD: tenure in months or years and the standard compounding frequencies.

Loona Calculators › Money & Finance › Recurring Deposit Calculator

🔁 Recurring Deposit Calculator

A recurring deposit builds a lump sum out of a fixed monthly deposit. Enter the monthly amount, the annual rate and the tenure to see the maturity value, calculated the way banks do — with quarterly compounding.

How to use the Recurring Deposit Calculator

  1. Enter the monthly deposit amount.
  2. Enter the annual interest rate (%).
  3. Enter the tenure in months, then press Calculate.
Example: Depositing Rs 5,000 every month at 7% per year for 12 months matures at Rs 62,310.66 — Rs 60,000 deposited by you and Rs 2,310.66 earned as interest.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do banks calculate RD interest?

Each monthly deposit earns interest for the time it stays in the account, and interest is compounded every quarter (every 3 months). This calculator uses that same standard method, with each deposit assumed at the start of the month.

What happens if I miss a monthly deposit?

Banks usually charge a small penalty and the maturity value drops a little. This estimate assumes every deposit is made on time.

RD or FD — which one suits me?

They suit different savers: an FD starts from one lump sum you already have, while an RD builds the sum gradually from monthly deposits. Their interest rates are usually similar.

Gratuity is the lump sum an employer pays in recognition of long service. Enter your last drawn monthly salary and your completed years of service for an instant estimate.

How to use the Gratuity Calculator

  1. Enter your last drawn monthly salary (basic pay plus dearness allowance, the way your employer counts it).
  2. Enter your completed years of service.
  3. Press Calculate — your estimated gratuity appears below.
Example: With a last drawn monthly salary of Rs 80,000 and 15 completed years of service, the estimated gratuity is Rs 80,000 × 15 = Rs 12,00,000.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is gratuity calculated here?

Using the convention common in Pakistan: 30 days' wages for every completed year of service — which equals one full month's last drawn salary per year. So gratuity = last monthly salary × completed years of service.

Is this the exact amount I will receive?

No — it is an estimate. Your employer's rules, your employment category and the current law decide the exact figure, and employers differ on which allowances count towards the salary figure.

Who receives gratuity?

Typically long-serving employees at retirement or the end of qualifying service; in the event of death during service it is paid to the family. Check your employment terms and the current law for your eligibility.

How to use the Retirement Savings Calculator

  1. Enter your current age and the age at which you plan to retire.
  2. Enter your current savings and your monthly contribution.
  3. Enter the expected annual return (%), then press Calculate.
Example: Starting at age 30 with Rs 2,00,000 already saved and adding Rs 20,000 every month at a 10% expected return until age 60 builds a projected corpus of Rs 4,91,77,238.37 — of which Rs 74,00,000 is money you put in.

Frequently Asked Questions

When are monthly contributions assumed?

At the end of each month, with monthly compounding. Your current savings grow for the full period until retirement.

Does this account for inflation?

No — the corpus is in future rupees, which will buy less than today's rupees. Our Inflation Calculator shows how much less; careful planning aims higher to allow for it.

Is the return guaranteed?

No. It is the steady average you enter. Real returns vary from year to year, and past performance never guarantees future results.

Loona Calculators › Money & Finance › Inflation Calculator

🎈 Inflation Calculator

Inflation quietly shrinks money. Enter any amount, the yearly inflation rate and a number of years to see two things: what today's goods will cost then, and what today's money will actually be worth.

How to use the Inflation Calculator

  1. Enter the amount (for example today's monthly household expenses, or a sum of money you hold).
  2. Enter the expected yearly inflation rate (%).
  3. Enter the number of years, then press Calculate.
Example: At 6% yearly inflation, goods that cost Rs 1,00,000 today will cost Rs 1,79,084.77 in 10 years — and Rs 1,00,000 kept aside will buy only what Rs 55,839.48 buys today.

Frequently Asked Questions

What inflation rate should I enter?

Use your country's recent long-term average consumer inflation — many countries average 5-8% over long periods, though individual years can be far higher. Trying a higher rate as well gives you a cautious picture.

Why does cash kept at home lose value?

Prices rise but the notes do not grow. Money must earn at least the inflation rate just to keep its buying power — one reason people invest rather than only save.

Are future cost and purchasing power the same thing?

They are mirror images: future cost shows prices rising, while purchasing power shows your fixed amount of money shrinking to match.

Loona Calculators › Money & Finance › CAGR Calculator

🚀 CAGR Calculator

CAGR smooths bumpy growth into one clean yearly rate. Enter the starting value, the ending value and the number of years to find the compound annual growth rate between them.

How to use the CAGR Calculator

  1. Enter the beginning value.
  2. Enter the ending value.
  3. Enter the number of years between them, then press Calculate.
Example: An investment that grows from Rs 1,00,000 to Rs 2,00,000 in 5 years has a CAGR of about 14.87% per year.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is CAGR?

Compound Annual Growth Rate: the steady yearly rate that would carry the beginning value to the ending value if growth were perfectly smooth. The real path was bumpy — the rate exists to make different periods comparable.

Can CAGR be negative?

Yes — if the ending value is smaller than the beginning value, CAGR is negative and shows the average yearly rate of decline.

How is CAGR different from a simple average return?

A simple average ignores compounding and can seriously mislead. CAGR accounts for growth building on growth, which is how money actually behaves.

Frequently Asked Questions

Population or sample standard deviation — which one?

Use population when your numbers are the complete set you care about. Use sample when your numbers are drawn from a larger group — it divides by (count − 1) instead of count to correct the estimate.

What does standard deviation tell me?

How spread out the numbers are around the mean. A small standard deviation means the values cluster tightly; a large one means they are widely scattered.

What is variance?

The average of the squared differences from the mean. Standard deviation is simply its square root, which brings the measure back into the original units.

  2. Enter the exponent (it can be negative, or a fraction like 0.5).
  3. Press Calculate — the power and the bonus table appear below.
Example: 2 to the power 10 = 1,024. And for base 9: the square is 81, the cube is 729 and the square root is 3.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a fractional exponent mean?

An exponent of 0.5 is the square root, and 1/3 is the cube root — fractional powers are roots in disguise.

What does a negative exponent mean?

It flips the number into a fraction: 2^-2 = 1 / (2 × 2) = 0.25. The result gets smaller; the exponent's sign never makes the answer negative by itself.

Why did I get an error for a negative base?

A negative base with a fractional exponent (like -4^0.5) has no real-number answer, so the calculator reports that honestly instead of inventing a value.

√ Square Root Calculator

Enter any number and see every common root and power of it in a single table: square root, cube root, fourth and fifth roots, its square and its cube.

How to use the Square Root Calculator

  1. Enter the number (0 or greater).
  2. Press Calculate.
  3. All of its roots and powers appear below.
Example: For 144: the square root is 12, the cube root is about 5.2415, the square is 20,736 and the cube is 29,85,984.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the square root calculated?

The square root of a number is the value that, multiplied by itself, gives the number back — 12 × 12 = 144, so the square root of 144 is 12.

Why must the number be 0 or greater?

No real number multiplied by itself gives a negative result, so negative numbers have no real square root. This tool covers the standard set of roots used in school and everyday work.

What are the 4th and 5th roots used for?

The 4th root is the square root of the square root; higher roots appear in geometry, engineering and growth calculations.

Loona Calculators › Money & Finance › Credit Card Payoff Calculator

💸 Credit Card Payoff Calculator

How long will that card balance really take to clear — and how much interest will it cost you on the way? Enter the balance, the card's APR and the fixed amount you can pay every month.

How to use the Credit Card Payoff Calculator

  1. Enter your current card balance.
  2. Enter the card's annual APR (%) — it is printed on your statement.
  3. Enter the fixed monthly payment you can afford, then press Calculate.
Example: A balance of Rs 50,000 at 36% APR, repaid at Rs 3,000 per month, takes 24 months to clear and costs Rs 20,360.29 in interest — Rs 70,360.29 paid in total.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the calculator warn about small payments?

If your payment does not cover even one month's interest, the balance grows instead of shrinking and can never be cleared. The warning tells you the first month's interest — any lasting payment must be above it.

Does this assume I stop using the card?

Yes — the estimate assumes no new spending on the card, no fees, and the same fixed payment every month. New purchases or missed payments will lengthen the payoff.

Would paying a little more each month help?

Enormously — every extra amount reduces the balance that next month's interest is charged on. Try raising the payment above and watch the total interest fall.

🚗 Car Loan Calculator

A car costs more than its sticker price once financing is added. Enter the vehicle price, your down payment, the interest rate and the term to see the real monthly payment — and what the car will actually cost you in total.

How to use the Car Loan Calculator

  1. Enter the vehicle's price.
  2. Enter your down payment and the annual interest rate.
  3. Enter the loan term in years and press Calculate.
Example: A car priced at Rs 30,00,000 with Rs 6,00,000 down, at 15% over 5 years: the loan is Rs 24,00,000, the monthly payment is Rs 57,095.83 and the total interest is Rs 10,25,749.93 — so the car costs Rs 40,25,749.93 in all.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is not included in this estimate?

Registration, insurance, dealer and bank processing fees, and taxes — these vary and are added on top by the seller or bank. The calculator covers the loan itself.

Does a bigger down payment help?

Yes, twice over: the loan is smaller, so the monthly payment drops and you pay interest on less money. Try raising the down payment and watch the total interest fall.

Is a longer term always cheaper?

The monthly payment falls, but you pay interest for more months — the total interest almost always grows. Compare the total cost row, not just the monthly payment.

Loona Calculators › Education › Grade Calculator

✏️ Grade Calculator

When assignments carry different weights, a simple average lies. Enter each assignment's score and weight — up to 8 of them — and get your true weighted grade as a percentage and a letter grade.

How to use the Grade Calculator

  1. Enter the score (%) and weight (%) for each assignment — leave unused rows blank.
  2. Weights do not need to add up to 100; the result is normalised over what you entered.
  3. Press Calculate — the overall grade and letter grade appear below.
Example: Four assignments scoring 90, 80, 70 and 100 with weights 40, 30, 20 and 10 give (3600 + 2400 + 1400 + 1000) ÷ 100 = 84% — a grade A.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why don't the weights have to total 100?

Because the calculator divides by the total weight you actually entered. Entering weights of 40 and 10 is the same as 80 and 20 — only the proportions matter.

Which letter scale is used?

A+ from 90%, A from 80%, B from 70%, C from 60%, D from 50%, and F below 50%. Your school may use a different scale — the percentage is the figure that transfers.

Can I leave some rows blank?

Yes — blank rows, and rows with a weight of 0, are simply ignored.

Loona Calculators › Education › GPA Calculator

🎓 GPA Calculator

Enter the letter grade and credit hours for each course — up to 8 courses — and get your GPA on the standard 4.0 scale, weighted properly by credit hours.

How to use the GPA Calculator

  1. For each course, pick the letter grade you earned.
  2. Enter that course's credit hours.
  3. Press Calculate — your GPA appears below.
Example: Three courses — an A (3 credits), a B (4 credits) and an A- (3 credits): (12 + 12 + 11.1) ÷ 10 = a GPA of 3.51.

Frequently Asked Questions

What grade points does each letter carry?

A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B- = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C- = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0 and F = 0 — the standard 4.0 scale.

Why do credit hours matter?

A 4-credit A lifts your GPA more than a 1-credit A, because the GPA is a credit-weighted average. This calculator handles the weighting for you.

My university uses marks, not letter grades.

Then try our CGPA Calculator, which takes subject marks out of 100 and applies the HEC grade scale common in Pakistan.

Loona Calculators › Education › Percentage to CGPA Converter

🔄 Percentage to CGPA Converter

The reverse of our CGPA-to-percentage tool: enter your percentage and convert it to a CGPA out of 10 or a GPA out of 4, using the formulas boards and universities commonly apply.

How to use the Percentage to CGPA Converter

  1. Enter your percentage (0 to 100).
  2. Choose the target scale — CGPA out of 10, or GPA out of 4.
  3. Press Calculate — the converted value and the formula appear below.
Example: 80.75% on the 10-point scale = 80.75 ÷ 9.5 = 8.5 CGPA. And 90% on the 4-point scale = 90 ÷ 100 × 4 = 3.6 GPA.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why divide by 9.5?

Because the common conversion runs the other way — Percentage = CGPA × 9.5 (the CBSE-style formula) — so recovering the CGPA means dividing by 9.5.

What happens above 95%?

A percentage above 95 would mathematically give more than a perfect 10, so the result is capped at 10 — the maximum on the scale.

Is this the official conversion for my board?

Boards and universities each set their own formula. This tool uses the most widely used ones; for official documents, confirm the formula with your institution.

Loona Calculators › Education › Target CGPA Calculator

🎯 Target CGPA Calculator

Chasing a target CGPA? Enter where you stand, how many credits are behind you and how many remain — the calculator tells you exactly what GPA the remaining credits must average, and warns you honestly if the target is already out of reach.

How to use the Target CGPA Calculator

  1. Enter your current CGPA (out of 4.0) and the credit hours you have completed.
  2. Enter your target CGPA and the credit hours still remaining.
  3. Press Calculate — the required GPA (or your maximum reachable CGPA) appears below.
Example: Current CGPA 3.0 after 60 credits, target 3.5 with 60 credits left: you need (3.5 × 120 − 3.0 × 60) ÷ 60 = 4.00 — a perfect record from here. Set a tougher target and the calculator shows the maximum CGPA you can actually reach instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if the required GPA is above 4.0?

Then the target cannot be reached in the remaining credits, no matter how well you do. The calculator shows the maximum CGPA a perfect 4.0 run would give you, so you can re-plan early.

Can retaking a course help?

At many universities, yes — replacing a low grade raises the CGPA without needing extra credits. Check your university's repeat policy; this calculator covers the remaining-credits path.

Does one bad semester ruin the target?

It raises what every later semester must average. Run the numbers after each semester so the target never drifts out of reach silently.

Loona Calculators › Health › Body Fat Calculator

📏 Body Fat Calculator

All you need is a tape measure. The US Navy circumference method estimates body fat from your height, neck and waist (plus hips for women) — no scales, scans or clinic visit required for a solid estimate.

How to use the Body Fat Calculator

  1. Choose your gender and enter your weight and height.
  2. Measure your neck just below the voice box and your waist at navel level; women also measure hips at the widest point.
  3. Press Calculate — body fat %, fat mass, lean mass and category appear below.
Example: A man, 180 cm tall, neck 38 cm, waist 85 cm, weighing 80 kg: the Navy formula gives about 16.1% body fat — the Fitness category — with roughly 12.9 kg of fat mass and 67.1 kg of lean body mass.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is the Navy method?

Against clinical methods it is usually within a few percent when measurements are taken carefully. Tape tension and posture matter — measure at the same time of day for comparable results.

What do the categories mean?

They follow the American Council on Exercise ranges — for men: Essential up to 5%, Athletes 6-13%, Fitness 14-17%, Average 18-24%, Obese 25% and above; women's ranges run higher, as healthy female body fat is naturally higher.

Why does the formula use logarithms of differences?

The Navy equations were fitted to thousands of measured sailors; the waist-minus-neck difference tracks abdominal fat while cancelling out general frame size.

Loona Calculators › Health › Macro Calculator

🥗 Macro Calculator

Counting calories is only half the picture — the split between carbohydrates, protein and fat shapes how those calories work. Enter your daily calorie target, pick a split, and get exact grams per day for each macro.

How to use the Macro Calculator

  1. Enter your daily calorie target (kcal) — our Daily Calorie Calculator can work it out for you.
  2. Choose a split: Balanced, High Protein, Low Carb or Keto.
  3. Press Calculate — grams and calories for each macro appear below.
Example: At 2,000 kcal on the Balanced split (40% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fat): carbs 200 g, protein 150 g and fat about 66.67 g per day.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are grams calculated?

Carbohydrates and protein provide 4 kcal per gram and fat provides 9 kcal per gram, so each macro's calorie share is divided by its energy value.

Which split should I choose?

Balanced suits most people. High Protein supports muscle building and satiety, Low Carb and Keto restrict carbohydrates progressively further. Anyone with a medical condition should consult a doctor or dietitian first.

Do I need to hit the grams exactly?

No — treat them as daily targets with a few percent of give either way. Consistency over weeks matters far more than a perfect day.

Loona Calculators › Health › Sleep Calculator

😴 Sleep Calculator

Waking up mid-cycle is what makes mornings feel brutal. Sleep runs in cycles of about 90 minutes, so this calculator counts backwards (or forwards) in full cycles and adds about 14 minutes to fall asleep — giving you bedtimes and wake-up times that work with your biology.

How to use the Sleep Calculator

  1. Choose whether you know your wake-up time or your bedtime.
  2. Enter that time (hour and minute).
  3. Press Calculate — the 6, 5 and 4 cycle options appear, with the recommended ones marked.
Example: To wake at 7:00 AM refreshed, count back in 90-minute cycles: be asleep by 9:46 PM (6 cycles) or 11:16 PM (5 cycles) — the calculator adds about 14 minutes for falling asleep to both.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why 90 minutes?

A full human sleep cycle — light sleep, deep sleep and dreaming (REM) — averages about 90 minutes. Waking at a cycle boundary, between dreams, feels markedly easier.

How much sleep do I actually need?

Most adults do best with 5 or 6 full cycles — 7 hours 30 minutes to 9 hours. Four cycles (6 hours) is a short-night fallback, not a routine.

Does the 14 minutes matter?

It is the average time people take to fall asleep, and yes — without it the cycles end 14 minutes before your alarm. If you fall asleep much faster or slower, shift the suggested times by the difference.

Loona Calculators › Health › Conception Calculator

👶 Conception Calculator

Working backwards from a due date is the standard way pregnancies are dated. Enter the expected due date and get the estimated conception date, the estimated first day of the last period, and when the first trimester ends.

How to use the Conception Calculator

  1. Select the expected due date (from your doctor or an earlier estimate).
  2. Press Calculate.
  3. The conception date, last period estimate and first-trimester end appear below.
Example: For a due date of 8 November 2026: the estimated conception date is 15 February 2026, the last period is estimated to have started on 1 February 2026, and the first trimester ends around 26 April 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why 266 and 280 days?

A pregnancy averages 280 days from the last period, and conception typically occurs about 14 days after it — 266 days before the due date. These are the standard averages medicine uses.

How exact is the conception date?

It is an estimate within several days either way; sperm survival and cycle variation mean the true date can differ. Only ultrasound dating narrows it further.

Can I use this the other way round?

For the forward direction — last period to due date — use our Pregnancy Due Date Calculator.

🎂 Age Difference Calculator

How much older is one sibling, partner or classmate than another — exactly? Enter two dates of birth and get the precise gap in years, months and days, plus the total number of days between the two births.

How to use the Age Difference Calculator

  1. Select the first person's date of birth.
  2. Select the second person's date of birth (order does not matter).
  3. Press Calculate — the difference and the older person appear below.
Example: Born 10 May 1990 and 20 August 1995: the difference is 5 years, 3 months and 10 days — 1,928 days in total — and the first person is the older one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the order of the dates matter?

No — the calculator sorts them itself and tells you which person is older.

Are leap years counted?

Yes — the gap is computed on the real calendar, so every 29 February between the two dates is included.

What if both were born on the same day?

The calculator reports a difference of 0 days and notes that the two are exactly the same age.

⏱️ Time Duration Calculator

How long between 9:30 AM and 5:45 PM — or between a 10 PM departure and a 6:30 AM arrival? Enter any start and end time on the 24-hour clock and get the exact duration, including overnight spans.

How to use the Time Duration Calculator

  1. Enter the start time (hour 0-23 and minute).
  2. Enter the end time the same way — if it falls after midnight, just type it as-is.
  3. Press Calculate — the duration in hours, minutes and decimal form appears below.
Example: From 9:30 AM to 5:45 PM is 8 hours, 15 minutes — 495 minutes, or 8.25 hours. And 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM correctly counts across midnight as 8 hours, 30 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are overnight durations handled?

Whenever the end time is earlier than the start time, it is treated as falling on the next day — the standard assumption for shifts, flights and journeys.

Why show decimal hours?

Payroll, billing and timesheets often need hours as a decimal (8.25 instead of 8:15). Both forms are shown so you can use whichever your form demands.

What if start and end are identical?

Identical times mean a duration of zero — enter an end time earlier than the start if you mean a full day later.

🕔 Work Hours Calculator

Timesheets, shift planning and pay checks all start with one question: how many hours did I actually work? Enter start, finish and your unpaid break to get net hours per day and per week — and add an hourly rate to see the pay figures too.

How to use the Work Hours Calculator

  1. Enter the start and end times on the 24-hour clock (night shifts are handled automatically).
  2. Enter unpaid break minutes and your working days per week.
  3. Optionally enter an hourly rate for pay figures, then press Calculate.
Example: Working 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid break is 8 net hours a day — 40 hours over 5 days — and at Rs 500 per hour that is Rs 4,000 a day and Rs 20,000 a week.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are night shifts supported?

Yes — if the end time is earlier than the start time, it is counted as the next day, so a 10 PM to 6 AM shift computes correctly.

Why subtract the break?

Unpaid breaks are not working time in most contracts and payroll systems. If your break is paid, simply enter 0 minutes.

Are the pay figures before or after tax?

Before — they are gross estimates from the hours and rate you enter. Actual payslips may include overtime rates, allowances and deductions.

🗓️ Week Number Calculator

Businesses, schools and logistics run on week numbers, but calendars rarely print them. Pick any date and instantly get its ISO week number, its day of the year, the days remaining, and its calendar quarter.

How to use the Week Number Calculator

  1. Select the date (today is pre-filled).
  2. Press Calculate.

Example: 28 October 2026 falls in ISO week 44, is day 301 of the year, leaves 64 days in 2026, and sits in the fourth quarter (Q4).

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ISO week system?

Weeks start on Monday, and week 1 is the week containing the year's first Thursday. It is the standard used across Europe, in business planning and in most software.

Why can January dates belong to the previous year's weeks?

Because an ISO week belongs to the year holding its Thursday. 1 January 2023, for instance, is in week 52 of ISO year 2022 — the calculator shows both the week and its ISO year.

How is this used in practice?

Delivery promises ('ships in week 44'), school terms, project plans and production schedules are all commonly quoted in ISO weeks.

🍳 Cooking Conversion Calculator

A cup of flour and a cup of honey weigh nothing alike — that is why plain volume-to-weight conversion fails in the kitchen. Pick the ingredient, and this calculator converts through its real density, the way professional bakers do.

How to use the Cooking Conversion Calculator

  1. Choose the ingredient (its density drives the conversion).
  2. Enter the amount and its unit.
  3. Choose the target unit and press Calculate.
Example: One US cup of all-purpose flour weighs about 123.03 g, while 250 g of butter measures about 1.1 US cups — the same volume, very different weights, because the ingredients' densities differ.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the ingredient matter?

Volume-to-weight conversion needs density (grams per millilitre). Flour is about 0.52 g/ml, honey about 1.42 g/ml — nearly three times heavier per cup.

How accurate are the densities?

They are standard kitchen averages for spooned, level measures. Packed flour or heaped spoons weigh more; for precision baking, weigh ingredients in grams.

Which cup is used?

The US cup of 236.588 ml, the measure used in most online recipes. Tablespoons are 14.787 ml and teaspoons 4.929 ml.

Loona Calculators › Converters › Speed Calculator

🚀 Speed Calculator

Speed is just distance divided by time — but the mental arithmetic is rarely welcome mid-journey or mid-workout. Enter the distance and time and get speed in both km/h and mph, plus running-style pace figures.

How to use the Speed Calculator

  1. Enter the distance and choose kilometres or miles.
  2. Enter the time taken (hours, minutes, seconds).
  3. Press Calculate — speed and pace appear below.
Example: Covering 10 km in 50 minutes means a speed of 12 km/h (7.46 mph) and a pace of 5:00 per kilometre.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between speed and pace?

Speed measures distance per hour (km/h, mph); pace measures time per unit of distance (minutes per km or mile). Runners think in pace, drivers in speed — both are shown.

Can I use this for a car journey?

Yes — enter the trip distance and driving time for the average speed. Remember averages hide stops and slow sections, so peak speeds were higher.

How do I convert km/h to mph?

Divide by 1.609344 — or just read the mph row, which this calculator always shows alongside.

🏃 Running Pace Calculator

Training for a race, or checking what your last run's pace really was? Enter the distance and finish time to get your pace per kilometre and per mile — and see what that same pace predicts for all four classic race distances.

How to use the Running Pace Calculator

  1. Choose the race distance (or enter a custom distance in km).
  2. Enter your finish time.
  3. Press Calculate — your pace and the predicted finish times appear below.
Example: Finishing a 10K in 50 minutes is a pace of 5:00 per kilometre (8:03 per mile); held over a half marathon, the same pace would finish in 1:45:29.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do the predictions get optimistic at marathon distance?

They assume an identical pace at every distance, but real runners slow as distance grows. Treat long-distance predictions as targets to train towards, not guarantees.

What is a good beginner pace?

Many new runners sit between 6:00 and 7:30 per kilometre. Comfort matters more than the number — you should be able to speak in short sentences at an easy pace.

Which distances are built in?

5K, 10K, the half marathon (21.0975 km) and the marathon (42.195 km) — the official road-race distances — plus any custom distance you type in.

Loona Calculators › Converters › Shoe Size Converter

👟 Shoe Size Converter

Ordering shoes from another country means decoding three sizing systems at once. Enter a US, UK or EU size — or your foot length in centimetres — and get the closest match in every system, for men and women.

How to use the Shoe Size Converter

  1. Choose men or women (the charts differ).
  2. Choose the system you know — US, UK, EU or foot length in cm.
  3. Enter the size and press Calculate — all four systems appear below.
Example: A men's US 10 is a UK 9, an EU 44 and a foot length of about 27.4 cm (10.79 inches). A women's US 5 is a UK 3, an EU 35.5 and about 22.1 cm.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why 'closest match' instead of an exact answer?

No single official shoe chart exists — brands convert slightly differently, so results are matched to the nearest row of the standard chart. Half a size of brand variation is normal.

Which measurement is most reliable?

Foot length in centimetres. Measure in the evening (feet swell during the day), standing, from heel to the longest toe, and use the longer of your two feet.

Do men's and women's sizes overlap?

The same number means different lengths on each chart — a women's US 8 is not a men's US 8. Always pick the right chart above.
