Image Annotation Editor — Add Arrows, Labels & Privacy Blur to Screenshots

In short: the Image Annotation Editor marks up screenshots and images the way tutorials and bug reports need: bold arrows, highlight boxes, text labels — and a privacy blur that pixelates names, numbers or faces before you share. The export is rendered at the image’s full original resolution.

This is not a photo editor — there are no filters or beauty tools here (Loona Image Tools handles photo editing). This tool has one job: explaining and protecting. Point at the button, label the step, blur the account number, and share a screenshot that teaches without exposing.

Private by design: everything in this tool happens 100% in your browser with JavaScript. Your data, photos and designs are never uploaded to a server, never stored and never seen by us - close the tab and everything is gone.

How to use the Image Annotation Editor

  1. Upload the screenshot or image you want to explain. It loads only into your browser.
  2. Choose Arrow and drag from where the eye should start to the thing you are pointing at. Use Box to frame an area, and Text label (type the text first, then click to place it).
  3. Choose Privacy blur and drag over anything sensitive — names, phone numbers, account details, faces. The area is pixelated so it cannot be read.
  4. Undo removes the last mark. Download exports a full-resolution PNG with every mark baked in.

How it works

Marks are stored as coordinates relative to the displayed image, then re-rendered at the image’s natural resolution for export — so arrows and labels stay sharp even on large screenshots. The blur samples the original image region, shrinks it to a handful of pixels and stretches it back with smoothing off, which destroys the detail instead of merely covering it. Everything runs locally; the image never leaves your device.

Worked example

Preparing a how-to guide, a teacher screenshots the school portal, draws a red arrow to the "Submit" button, labels it "1 — Click Submit", blurs the student ID column, and exports a guide image that is safe to send to every parent.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from Loona Image Tools?

Image Tools edits photos — resizing, compressing, filters, watermarks. This editor annotates screenshots for explanation: arrows, boxes, labels and privacy blur. Different job, different tool.

Does the blur really hide the information?

Yes — the area is pixelated from the original pixels at a coarse block size, so the underlying text or faces are destroyed in the export, not just covered. Always check the exported image before sharing.

Will the export be blurry?

No — marks are re-rendered at the image’s full original resolution, so the export is as sharp as the source screenshot.

Can I move a mark after placing it?

Use Undo to remove the last mark and place it again — marks are kept in order, so undo steps back one at a time.

Is my screenshot uploaded anywhere?

Never. The image and its marks exist only in your browser.
