Drawing Whiteboard — Free Online Sketch Pad with Shapes & Undo

In short: the Drawing Whiteboard is an instant sketch pad in your browser: a freehand pen, an eraser, line, rectangle and circle tools, any colour and brush size, undo and redo — and a PNG download of your board.

Explaining an idea, sketching a layout, solving a sum on screen, or letting students draw — a whiteboard is the fastest way to think out loud. Open the page and draw; there is nothing to install and nothing to save to a server.

Private by design: everything in this tool happens 100% in your browser with JavaScript. Your data, photos and designs are never uploaded to a server, never stored and never seen by us - close the tab and everything is gone.

How to use the Drawing Whiteboard

  1. Pick a tool: Pen for freehand drawing, Eraser to rub out, or Line, Rectangle and Circle for clean shapes.
  2. Choose a colour and brush thickness. Draw with your mouse, finger or stylus — shapes preview as you drag.
  3. Made a mistake? Undo steps back one stroke at a time, Redo brings it back, and Clear empties the board.
  4. Press Download whiteboard PNG to keep or share the finished sketch.

How it works

Every stroke and shape is stored as data — tool, colour, size and points — and the board is redrawn from that list, which is what makes precise undo and redo possible. Shapes are normalised from your drag (start corner to end corner), so you can drag in any direction. Pointer and touch events are handled together, so the same code works with a mouse in class or a finger on a phone.

Worked example

During an online lesson, a teacher sketches the water cycle live — sun, arrows, a cloud circle and labels — undoes one wobbly arrow, redraws it, and downloads the PNG to send to the class group as revision notes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the whiteboard work on a phone or tablet?

Yes — it uses touch-friendly pointer events, so finger and stylus drawing work alongside the mouse.

What does the eraser do?

The eraser paints in the board’s white background colour, rubbing out whatever is underneath its stroke. Undo restores anything erased by mistake.

How many steps can I undo?

Every stroke and shape is one undo step, and the whole board history is kept while the tab is open.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The board and its history live only in your browser memory.

What size is the downloaded image?

The board exports at its full 1060 × 620 pixel canvas size as a PNG.
