Instagram Grid Splitter — Split One Photo into a 3×N Profile Grid
A giant image revealed across your profile grid is the oldest Instagram growth trick — and it still stops thumbs. This splitter (not a resizer) cuts exact square tiles from your original at full resolution.
How to use the Instagram Grid Splitter
- Upload the image you want spread across your profile. Landscape or portrait both work — the middle band is used.
- Choose 1 to 4 rows. The preview shows the exact tile boundaries on your image.
- Download the ZIP of square tiles.
- Post the tiles in reverse — the LAST tile first — because Instagram shows newest posts first. The plan text under the preview repeats the order.
How it works
Tiles are exact squares of side = image width ÷ 3, taken from the vertical centre of your image, cut from the original pixels (never resized). The ZIP is built in your browser with Loona’s own tiny ZIP writer — stored, uncompressed entries with correct CRC checksums.
Worked example
A café splits a photo of its full menu board into a 3×3 grid. Posted in reverse over one evening, the profile becomes a menu you can read whole.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the same as resizing?
No — resizing changes the whole image’s size. Splitting cuts it into separate post images; Loona Image Tools hosts resizing, this tool only splits.
Why post in reverse order?
Instagram grids show the newest post first (top-left). Posting the bottom-right tile first makes the finished grid read correctly.
What image works best?
A high-resolution image with the subject in the middle band — top and bottom edges beyond the grid area are not used.
Are tiles full quality?
Yes — tiles are cut from your original pixels and saved as PNG in the ZIP.
