How to make a NADRA / CNIC photo in 3 steps
- Load your photo — drop it above or click to browse. Nothing is uploaded; the photo stays on your device.
- Frame your face — choose 350 × 467 px for an online Pak-ID application, or 413 × 531 px for printing, then drag and zoom until your face fills the dashed oval.
- Download — save the JPG at exactly the pixel size chosen, ready to upload or print.
About NADRA and CNIC photo requirements
Pakistan's identity card photo follows the international 35 × 45 mm standard, the same size used for Pakistani passports. For online applications, NADRA's Pak-ID system asks for a photo of at least 350 × 467 px, in JPEG format, on a plain white background. At print resolution, 35 × 45 mm at 300 DPI is 413 × 531 px, which is the second preset in this tool — use it when a studio or print shop needs a file that measures exactly right on paper. This maker crops and scales your picture to those exact pixel sizes.
For the photo itself: use a recent photo taken within the last 6 months, face straight at the camera, both eyes open, neutral expression, and no glasses. The background should be plain white with no shadows or other people visible. Please note honestly how NADRA works in practice: at NADRA registration centres, and often inside the Pak-ID app, your photo is also captured live by their camera. A self-prepared photo is what you upload for online applications through Pak-ID and DGIP e-services, and it is useful to keep as a print backup — preparing it correctly here saves a rejected upload.
How it works
The tool cover-fits your photo into the chosen frame: it scales the image so the frame is completely covered, then lets you drag and zoom to choose which part is kept. On download it draws exactly that region onto a canvas of the target pixel size and exports a high-quality JPG.
Worked example
A phone photo of 3000 × 4000 pixels opened with the Pak-ID preset is scaled to cover the 350 × 467 output. You drag until the head and shoulders are centred in the oval, then download a file that is exactly 350 × 467 px — the size the Pak-ID upload asks for. Choosing the print preset instead gives 413 × 531 px, which prints at precisely 35 × 45 mm at 300 DPI.
Frequently asked questions
Is this NADRA / CNIC photo maker free?
Yes — completely free, with no signup, no watermark and no limit on how many photos you make.
What size photo does Pak-ID ask for?
NADRA's online system asks for at least 350 × 467 px, JPEG format, on a plain white background. That is the default preset in this tool.
Can I wear glasses in the photo?
No. NADRA photo guidance asks for no glasses, so take the photo without them, with both eyes clearly visible.
Will NADRA accept a photo I made myself?
For online applications on Pak-ID and DGIP e-services, yes — you upload your own prepared photo. At a NADRA centre, staff also capture your photo live, so a prepared photo additionally serves as your correct-size print backup.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Cropping and resizing happen 100% in your browser using the Canvas API. Your photo never leaves your device.
My photo has a coloured background. Can I make it white?
If the background is plain and even, use our free Photo Background Changer first, then crop the result here to the exact size.
