Merge PDF Files Online - Free

In short: the Merge PDF tool combines two or more PDF files into a single document, in exactly the order you arrange them, completely free and without uploading anything.

Reports, scanned pages, certificates and forms often arrive as separate PDF files. This tool joins them into one clean document: add your files, drag them into the right order, and download the merged PDF in seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it free to merge PDFs here?

Yes. The Merge PDF tool is completely free with no sign-up, no watermark and no page limit imposed by us.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Merging happens 100% inside your browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device.

Can I change the order before merging?

Yes. Drag any file to a new position, or use the Up and Down buttons, and the merged PDF follows that exact order.

Will the quality of my PDFs change?

No. Pages are copied exactly as they are - text stays selectable and images keep their original quality.

How many files can I merge at once?

There is no fixed limit. Very large sets depend only on your device's memory.

How it works

Your files are opened right inside your browser with the pdf-lib JavaScript library - nothing is uploaded to any server. The tool creates a brand-new blank document, then visits each file in the order shown in your list and copies every page into the new document exactly as it is. Because pages are copied whole rather than printed or re-rendered, text stays selectable, vector drawings stay sharp and images keep their original data. The finished document is saved as merged.pdf and downloaded automatically, while your original files are never modified.

Worked example

You are applying for a job and the employer wants one single file. You add cover-letter.pdf (1 page), cv.pdf (3 pages) and certificates.pdf (4 pages), then drag certificates below the CV so the list reads cover letter, CV, certificates. Clicking Merge PDF produces one 8-page merged.pdf in exactly that order, ready to attach to the application.

Frequently asked questions

Do the merged files keep their bookmarks and document outline?

Pages are copied whole, including everything drawn on them, but the new document is built fresh - so the bookmarks and outline of the source files are not carried across. If you rely on bookmarks, the individual files keep them untouched.

Can I merge a password-protected PDF?

No. A file that needs a password to open cannot be read by the tool and will show an error. Remove the password in the app that created the file first, then merge it here.

Can I merge PDFs with different page sizes?

Yes. Every page keeps its own original size in the merged document, so a mix of A4 pages, receipts and wide sheets combines without distortion.

How big will the merged file be?

Roughly the sum of the files you put in, sometimes a little smaller because the document is re-saved cleanly. No compression is applied to the pages themselves.

Does my internet speed affect merging?

No. Once this page has loaded, all the work happens in your device's memory, so merging is just as fast on a slow connection - your files never travel anywhere.
