Histogram Maker — Free Distribution Charts from Raw Numbers
A column chart compares categories; a histogram shows distribution. Marks of a whole class, delivery times, product weights — paste the raw values and see how they spread.
How to use the Histogram Maker
- Paste or type your raw numbers as the values of the first series — one number per row (labels can be simple numbers or names).
- The maker groups them into 10 equal bins automatically and counts each bin.
- Read the shape, then download the PNG for your report. Use Copy CSV to keep the raw data.
How it works
Bins span from the smallest to the largest value in equal widths; each value falls into exactly one bin (the largest value is included in the last bin). Bar height is the count in the bin, scaled to a rounded maximum. The chart is drawn by hand on an HTML canvas by Loona’s shared chart engine — no chart library and no server. Everything is computed locally, so your numbers never leave your device.
Worked example
A teacher pastes 60 exam marks. The histogram peaks at 60–70 with a long tail to the left — she plans revision for the tail before the next test.
Frequently Asked Questions
Histogram vs bar chart?
A bar chart compares separate categories. A histogram groups a continuous range of numbers into bins and counts them — it shows distribution, not categories.
How many bins are used?
Ten equal bins across your data range — a clear default for most class-sized datasets.
Which series is used?
All values from all series are combined into one distribution; usually you will use a single series of raw numbers.
Are my numbers uploaded?
Never — the histogram is computed in your browser.
