Stacked Bar Chart Maker — Free Stacked Column Charts
Website traffic by source per month, expenses by type per quarter — when every category is a total with ingredients, stacking shows both stories at once.
How to use the Stacked Bar Chart Maker
- Type your labels and numbers into the grid, or paste CSV into the box below the chart and press Apply CSV.
- Adjust the title, legend and per-series colours until the chart reads clearly at a glance.
- Press Download chart as PNG and drop the image into your document, slides or post. Use Copy my data as CSV to save your figures for later.
How it works
The axis scales to the largest stacked total (not the largest single value). Segments stack in series order from the baseline, each in its own colour, with the legend explaining the parts. The chart is drawn by hand on an HTML canvas by Loona’s shared chart engine — no chart library and no server. Everything is computed locally, so your numbers never leave your device.
Worked example
A school charts admissions per term stacked by campus. Totals grow each term, and the gold segment shows the new campus driving the growth.
Frequently Asked Questions
Stacked or grouped bars?
Grouped bars compare series side by side; stacked bars show what each total is made of. If the total matters most, stack it.
Why is the axis taller than my biggest value?
Because it must fit the biggest stack — the sum of all series in one category.
Can segments be negative?
Stacked charts are designed for positive parts; negative values are drawn as zero-height segments.
Is it free?
Yes — free, no sign-up, no upload.
