Waffle Chart Maker — Free 10×10 Square Pie Charts
Percentages are abstract; a hundred squares are not. Waffle charts are the favourite of newsrooms and teachers for showing shares to any audience.
How to use the Waffle Chart Maker
- Type your labels and numbers into the grid, or paste CSV into the box below the chart and press Apply CSV.
- Adjust the title, legend and per-series colours until the chart reads clearly at a glance.
- Press Download chart as PNG and drop the image into your document, slides or post. Use Copy my data as CSV to save your figures for later.
How it works
Shares are converted to whole squares with the largest-remainder method: floors first, then the leftover squares go to the categories with the biggest fractional parts — so the grid always totals exactly 100 squares. The chart is drawn by hand on an HTML canvas by Loona’s shared chart engine — no chart library and no server. Everything is computed locally, so your numbers never leave your device.
Worked example
A canteen survey of 100 students becomes a waffle: 46 gold squares "very satisfied" — a picture the youngest students understand immediately.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why 100 squares?
A 10 × 10 waffle makes every square worth exactly 1%, so readers count instead of calculating.
Which series is used?
The first series; categories are your row labels.
Do the squares always add to 100?
Yes — the largest-remainder rounding guarantees exactly 100 squares while staying faithful to your proportions.
Waffle or pie?
Pies are compact; waffles are easier for children and general audiences to read precisely.
