Morse Code Translator - With Real Sound

In short: the Morse Code Translator converts text into dot-and-dash Morse code (and back again), and can play the code aloud as authentic beeps.

Morse code carried the world's messages for over a century - and scouts, radio hobbyists and puzzle-makers still use it daily. Type text to get its code, paste code to read a message, and press Play to hear exactly how it sounds.

Private by design: everything in this tool happens 100% in your browser with JavaScript. Your text is never uploaded to a server, never stored and never seen by us - close the tab and everything is gone.

How to use the Morse Code Translator

  1. Type plain text, or paste Morse code (dots, dashes, spaces between letters, / between words).
  2. Click the direction you want - Text to Morse, or Morse to Text.
  3. Press Play Morse Sound to hear the code beeped at a steady, learnable pace.

How it works

Every letter and digit has an official International Morse pattern - S is three dots, O is three dashes, which is why SOS (··· --- ···) became the world's distress call. The translator maps each character to its pattern, joining letters with spaces and words with a slash. The player uses your device's audio to beep a dot for one unit, a dash for three units, with one unit of silence between symbols - the real timing rules radio operators learn.

Worked example

Type 'HELLO' and you get '.... . .-.. .-.. ---'. Paste '... --- ...' the other way and you get 'SOS' - the most famous three letters in Morse history.
