Text to Speech - Listen to Your Text Aloud

In short: the Text to Speech reader speaks your text aloud using your device's own voices - English, Urdu and more - with speed and pitch you control.

This tool is close to our heart: Loona Automation's mission, 'Bolti Duniya', is that every book should speak. Paste a lesson, a story, an article or a letter and hear it read aloud - for learners who read by listening, for tired eyes, and for proofreading your own writing by ear.

Private by design: everything in this tool happens 100% in your browser with JavaScript. Your text is never uploaded to a server, never stored and never seen by us - close the tab and everything is gone.

How to use the Text to Speech

  1. Type or paste the text you want to hear.
  2. Pick a voice - English and Urdu voices installed on your device appear in the list - and set the speed.
  3. Press Listen. Pause any time, and adjust the pitch for a voice that suits you.

How it works

The reader uses the speech engine built into your browser and device (the Web Speech API), so the voices you see are the voices installed on your phone or computer - no audio is created on or sent to any server. Long texts are automatically spoken in sentence-sized chunks, which keeps the engine reliable on long lessons and stories. Urdu text is read by any Urdu voice on your device; if none is installed, adding the Urdu language pack in your device settings makes one appear.

Worked example

A teacher pastes tomorrow's English lesson - 320 words - chooses the English voice at 0.9x speed, and plays it for the class from her phone. Students who learn better by listening hear the whole lesson clearly, twice, without the teacher reading until her voice gives out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is text to speech free here?

Yes - completely free, no sign-up and no character limit imposed by us.

Which languages can it speak?

Any language your device has a voice for - typically English, Urdu, Hindi, Arabic and many more. The list shows exactly what your device offers.

Why is the Urdu voice missing?

Voices come from your device, not from us. Install the Urdu language/voice pack in your phone or Windows settings and it will appear here after a refresh.

Can I download the audio as MP3?

The browser speech engine plays audio live but does not provide a download file. For recorded narration, record the playback with any voice-recorder app.

Is my text uploaded for speaking?

No. The text goes only to your own device's built-in speech engine.
