How to use the Text Compare
- Paste the original text on the left and the new version on the right.

- Read the result: lines marked + exist only in the new text, lines marked − were removed, and unmarked lines are unchanged.
How it works
The comparison uses a longest-common-subsequence (LCS) algorithm - the same family of method behind professional code-diff tools. It finds the longest run of lines the two texts share in the same order; everything in the original outside that run is a removal, and everything new outside it is an addition. Because whole lines are compared exactly, even a one-character change marks the whole line as removed-plus-added, which is exactly what you want when proofreading documents and lists.
Worked example
Original list: 'Milk, Eggs, Bread, Butter'. New list: 'Milk, Eggs, Brown Bread, Butter, Tea'. The result shows Bread removed, Brown Bread and Tea added, the rest unchanged - a 3-second answer instead of reading both lists twice.
