Online Notepad - Auto-Saves as You Type
For quick notes, drafts and lists you should not need an account or an app install. Open this page and type: your note saves itself on this device every moment, survives closing the tab, and can be downloaded or printed whenever you are ready.
How to use the Online Notepad
- Just start typing - the note saves automatically on this device as you write.
- Close the tab and come back any time: your note will be waiting exactly as you left it.
- Download it as a text file or print it when you need it outside the browser.
How it works
The notepad uses your browser's own local storage - a small private shelf inside the browser on your device. Every change is written there within a second, under this page's own key. Nothing travels to any server, which is why the notepad works offline and why your notes cannot be seen by us or anyone else. One honest limit: local storage belongs to this browser on this device - clearing browser data erases it, so download anything precious.
Worked example
A teacher drafts tomorrow's quiz questions during the day, adding a question whenever one comes to mind. The tab is closed twice by accident - no problem: each time she returns, every question is exactly where she left it, ready to download in the evening.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the online notepad free?
Yes - free, no sign-up, no storage limit beyond your browser's own allowance.
Where is my note saved?
Only in this browser on this device (local storage). It is never uploaded, synced or visible to us.
Will my note survive closing the tab?
Yes - that is the point of auto-save. It survives tab closes and browser restarts on the same device.
What can erase my note?
Clearing this site's browser data, using a different browser or device, or pressing 'New note'. Download a copy of anything important.
Can I use it offline?
Yes - after the page has loaded once, typing and saving work fully offline.
