Password Generator - Strong & Random

In short: the Password Generator creates strong random passwords on your own device, with the length and character types you choose - nothing is sent anywhere.

Reused and guessable passwords are how accounts get stolen. Set the length, tick the character types, and generate passwords that no human would ever guess - then copy them straight into your password manager. Generate a fresh batch any time.

Private by design: everything in this tool happens 100% in your browser with JavaScript. Your text is never uploaded to a server, never stored and never seen by us - close the tab and everything is gone.

How to use the Password Generator

  1. Slide the length - 16 or more characters is a strong default; longer always beats more complicated.
  2. Tick the character types the website allows. Symbols add strength where they are permitted.
  3. Click Generate, then click any password in the box to copy it straight to your clipboard.

How it works

Passwords are built with your browser's cryptographic random generator (crypto.getRandomValues) - the same quality of randomness your banking apps rely on, never Math.random. Every generated password is guaranteed to contain at least one character from each type you ticked, and the rest are drawn evenly from the full pool and shuffled. The strength meter shows the password's entropy in bits: each doubling of the search space adds one bit, and anything above 70 bits is beyond practical guessing. Passwords exist only on this page - we never see, send or store them.

Worked example

With length 16 and lowercase + uppercase + numbers + symbols ticked, the pool is about 80 characters and entropy is roughly 101 bits - the tool might produce 'vR8$kQ2!mZx7&Lp4'. Even billions of guesses per second would not dent it in any human lifetime.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this password generator safe?

Yes. Passwords are created with cryptographic randomness on your own device and are never transmitted or stored anywhere.

How long should my password be?

At least 14-16 characters for important accounts. Length matters more than complexity - a long password beats a short clever one.

Why exclude l, 1, O and 0 by default?

Look-alike characters cause typing mistakes when a password must be entered by hand. Tick the option if a site requires them or you always paste.

Should every account have a different password?

Absolutely - that is the whole point of a generator. Store them in a password manager so you only remember one master password.

Can I generate several at once?

Yes - each click creates five fresh passwords so you can pick the one you like.
