Text to Binary Converter - And Back Again

In short: the Text to Binary converter turns your words into the 0s and 1s computers actually store - and turns binary code back into readable text.

Every letter on a screen is stored as numbers, and every number as binary - just 0s and 1s. Computer-science students meet this on day one. Type text to see its true binary form, or paste binary to decode a message someone sent you.

Private by design: everything in this tool happens 100% in your browser with JavaScript. Your text is never uploaded to a server, never stored and never seen by us - close the tab and everything is gone.

How to use the Text to Binary

  1. Type normal text, or paste binary code (groups of 8 bits, spaces optional).
  2. Click the conversion direction you want.
  3. Copy the result - binary makes a fun secret-code message for friends and students.

How it works

Computers store text as bytes using the UTF-8 encoding: each character becomes one or more bytes, and each byte is written as exactly 8 binary digits. 'A' is byte 65, written 01000001. English letters take one byte each; Urdu letters take two bytes each, which is why their binary looks longer - the tool handles both correctly in both directions, and validates pasted binary before decoding so a stray digit gives a clear error instead of gibberish.

Worked example

'Hi' becomes '01001000 01101001': H is byte 72 and i is byte 105. Paste that binary into the tool and click Binary → Text, and 'Hi' comes back.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the binary converter free?

Yes - free, no sign-up, unlimited conversions.

Why is each letter 8 digits?

Text is stored in bytes, and a byte is 8 bits (0s and 1s). Each group of 8 digits is one byte - one simple character.

Does it support Urdu and emojis?

Yes - it uses full UTF-8, so Urdu letters (2 bytes each) and emojis (up to 4 bytes) convert correctly both ways.

Can I paste binary without spaces?

Yes - spaces are ignored; the digits are simply grouped into 8s from the start.

Is my text uploaded?

No - conversion happens 100% in your browser.
