Reverse Text - Letters, Words or Whole Lines
Reversed text is handy for puzzles, social posts, checking palindromes and playful messages. Choose the kind of reversal you want - each mode gives a different result, and all of them are one click.
How to use the Reverse Text
- Type or paste your text into the box.
- Pick a reversal type - whole text, each word, word order, or line order.
- Click Reverse Text. Clicking again reverses it back to the original.
How it works
Whole-text reversal flips every character including spaces and line breaks, and it is symbol-safe: emojis and accented letters are treated as single characters, never split into broken halves. 'Each word backwards' keeps the words in place but spells each one in reverse. 'Word order' keeps every word spelled correctly but reverses their sequence on each line, and 'Line order' flips the lines top-to-bottom - useful for turning a countdown into a count-up.
Worked example
Start with 'the cat sat'. Whole text backwards: 'tas tac eht'. Each word backwards: 'eht tac tas'. Word order reversed: 'sat cat the'. Three different puzzles from one short sentence.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the text reverser free?
Yes - completely free with no sign-up.
Can I undo a reversal?
Yes - every reversal here is its own undo. Apply the same mode again and you get the original text back exactly.
Does it work with emojis?
Yes. Characters are reversed by whole symbols, so emojis and accented letters survive the flip intact.
What is a palindrome check?
A palindrome reads the same backwards and forwards, like 'madam'. Reverse your word with 'Whole text' mode and compare.
Is my text uploaded?
No - everything happens in your browser.
