Good handwriting is muscle memory, and muscle memory needs repetitions on proper guide lines — not plain paper. These sheets use the classic four-line ruling (top line, mid line, base line) so children can see exactly how tall each letter should be and where it sits.
How to Use It
- Choose the sheet type: full alphabet pairs (Aa Bb Cc…), capitals only, small letters only, numbers, or your own words.
- Set tracing rows (1–4) — each item gets that many pale tracing rows, followed by one empty ruled line for copying unaided.
- For custom words: type one word or sentence per line — spelling words, the child's name, or this week's sentence practice.
- Generate and print. The sheet includes name and date lines, ready for class or homework.
How It Works
Each practice item is rendered in a large, pale, rounded letter style over ruled lines: a solid top and base line with a dashed-style mid guide, matching the exercise books used in primary schools. Tracing rows repeat the item so the hand learns the shape; the following blank ruled row removes the support, which is the step that actually builds independent writing. Everything is generated in your browser from your word list — nothing is uploaded.

What age is this for?
The alphabet and number sheets suit ages 4–8. Custom words and sentences suit any age — older children can practise joined-up sentences, tricky spellings or even a signature.
Why are the letters pale grey?
So the child's own pencil line shows clearly on top while tracing. When printing, the grey prints light enough to trace over but dark enough to follow.
Can I practise my child's name?
Yes — choose "My own words / sentences", type the name on its own line, and generate. Names are the most motivating first handwriting practice there is.
Does it teach joined (cursive) writing?
The sheets use a rounded print style, which is the foundation taught before joining. The ruled lines and letter shapes still help cursive learners with sizing and placement.
