Spell the Word โ Build It Letter by Letter
Where the anagram game asks for the whole word at once, this game builds it one letter at a time โ the student must know which letter comes next, which is exactly the skill spelling requires.
How to Use It
- Type words as word = clue, one per line.
- Start: read the clue, then tap letter tiles in order. The word builds up in big letters as you tap.
- Made a mistake? Undo letter removes the last tile. When the built word is complete it is checked automatically.
- Skip reveals the word and moves on. Finish all words for the final score.
How It Works
Tiles are the word's exact letters in a guaranteed-different shuffled order. Checking happens the moment the last tile is placed, comparing the built string with the target word ignoring case. Undo restores the specific tile that was placed, so repeated letters are handled correctly.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from the Anagram Game?
Anagram: see scrambled letters, type the whole word. Spell the Word: tap tiles one by one to construct it. The tile version is gentler and better for younger children; the typing version is a step harder.
Can it read the word aloud too?
For dictation practice use the Spelling Test on this site, which speaks each word with your browser's voice. This game is deliberately visual.
What word length works best?
Three to eight letters. Longer words make long tile rows that wrap on small screens.
