Hangman โ Guess the Word Letter by Letter
Hangman remains a classroom favourite because every guess is a small spelling decision, and the whole class can shout suggestions. Built-in lists mean a teacher can start a game in seconds at the end of a lesson.
How to Use It
- Choose a list or press "Use my own words" and type one word per line (letters aโz).
- Press New word โ a word is chosen at random and shown as blanks.
- Tap letters on the keyboard. Correct letters appear in the word; wrong ones cost one of six lives and add a line to the drawing.
- Win by completing the word, or press New word any time for a fresh game.
How It Works
The game state is computed from the word plus the list of guessed letters: the revealed pattern, wrong-guess count and win/loss are derived fresh after every guess, which keeps the drawing, keyboard and message perfectly in sync. Words are picked at random from the chosen list each round.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why only letters aโz in custom lists?
The on-screen keyboard covers aโz and spaces, which keeps the game simple and fast for classroom use. Words with accents or other scripts are not supported in this version.
How many wrong guesses are allowed?
Six, as in the classic game โ head, body, two arms and two legs.
Can two students play together?
Yes โ one student can choose "my own words", type a single secret word, and hand the device over. The word is never displayed until the game ends.
